So my Macbook hard drive quit the other day (couldn’t have happened in the states, right?) and we have been pretty busy. I will get back to writing by tomorrow hopefully, when im not typing on the incredibly cramped keyboard of an 8.9″ laptop!

A view from my room in Bangkok
It’s Wednesday morning, 10:36am, 12 hours ahead of my hometown in NY. The above photo above is a view from my window this morning. About 40 hours ago my parents and I departed from Dulles International Airport, arriving at Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport just 12 hours before writing this entry. This marks my second Thai excursion, the first for my parents.
What brings us to Thailand? First of all, I must say that experiencing a culture other than one’s own is an enlightening experience, to say the least. I believe getting away from one’s home, comfort zone is crucial to keeping an open mind and an ever-increasing appreciation for the world around you.
Aside from the reverence of being around a beautiful people whose food, language, art, and land are so amazingly unique, we are visiting our dear friend Wongsakorn (”Top” for short), who we were lucky enough to host as a Rotary exchange student in 2002/2003. For those of you who didn’t have the privilege of meeting Top during that short year, I must say that he is one of the coolest dudes I know. I’ve never met anyone as respectful, intelligent, and easy to be around as my brother in Thailand. We are truly honored and thrilled to be here.
So until I really get into the swing of things, my writing process is very slow. I apologize for cutting this a bit short, but it’s going to be necessary at certain points over the next two weeks. Right now it’s time for coffee and papaya!
